A Republic Cannot Survive Too Much Ignorance
July, 2016 Egyptian satirist and talk show host, Dr. Bassem Youssef appeared on Comedy Central's Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and prophetically stated the following about our presidential election, " Don't underestimate the power of hate, ignorance and fear." Long after this episode aired those words burned into my brain. People should never blindly follow or put their unquestioning faith in one candidate or human being no matter how hurt or ignored they feel.
Supporters of Donald Trump believe he will solve every problem the United States may face despite their complete disregard for his extensively documented misogyny, bigotry, racism, admiration for dictators and the greatest disrespect for equality and justice. The dangerous tentacles of fascism have been unleashed upon the American psyche. The most disheartening part of this election is that most of our citizens fail to fully understand what they've created.
